Motorola today has finally added a full stop to the rumour mill about the successor of Moto G. Today in an event in Delhi, Motorola launched the Moto G successor aka Moto G (gen 2), with bigger display but same resolution as its predecessor. At the launch Motorola also announced the much awaited Moto 360 watch and Moto X’s successor Moto X (gen 2).
While Moto X and Moto 360 smart watch will be available later this month, Moto G (gen 2) will go on sale from today midnight. Most of the specifications of Moto G (gen 2) are derived from Moto G, but exceeds where Moto G falls short. One of the shortcomings of Moto G is the fixed internal storage space, with no external expandable SD card support, where Moto G (gen 2) excels.
For the specifications of Moto G (gen 2), will have 5 inch display, 400 (MSM8226) processor, coupled with 1GB of RAM and the Adreno 305 GPU.The second-generation Moto G features an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Notably, the smartphone – like the Moto E – features dual front speakers, above and below the display, apart from 2 mics.
The 16GB variant will be available from today midnight only through Flipkart at a price of INR 1299.
Despite of rumours of launch event in China, Motorola has unveiled the device in India, considering the Indian growing Indian market and the popularity it received for earlier models Moto X, Moto G and recently Moto E.
Motorola did mentioned the availability of existing smartphone models in the market, but would be phased out in due course of time.
