Apple has initiated a program, through which the company will replace the power button of the latest iteration of iPhone, the iPhone 5S for free. Users can replace the button for free if the handset is in accordance with Apple’s policy.
Apple has setup a website for users to check if their device is eligible for this program. Users have to enter serial number and the country, to find if the handset is eligible. Some of the iPhone users complained the malfunctioning of ON/OFF button, located at the top of iPhone 5. For some users the button didn’t worked at all or some reported intermittent functioning of the power button. iPhones manufactured during the month of March 2013, have the button problem.
Apple has determined that the sleep/wake button mechanism on a small percentage of iPhone 5 models may stop working or work intermittently. iPhone 5 models manufactured through March 2013 may be affected by this issue.
Apple will replace the sleep/wake button mechanism, free of charge, on iPhone 5 models that exhibit this issue and have a qualifying serial number.
