Apple has released the statistics of the new OS it released a few weeks before. According to the statistics, the new iOS 7 is on 74% of Apple iOS compatible devices.
The statistics are calculated on the basis of the data collected from the devices from which the App store was visited. Recently Google released that it’s new OS aka Android KitKat is now on 1.1% of Android devices. As compared to the devices running on android, number of iOS devices is far too less and the percentage figures cannot be directly compared.
Apple has a control of the updates, and releases updates to all the iOS devices at once. This is not the case with Google’s Android. Being an open source environment Google cannot roll out the OS to each and every device at a single time. The device manufacturers have to roll out the OS with their tweaks and by adding some of their own features e.g. Samsung adds its own TouchWiz UI.
Apple got an advantage of its two new devices’ namely the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. Due to success of these two new phones from Apple which inherently run on iOS 7, the percentage of the iOS devices running iOS 7 increased tremendously. There is an increase of about 10% in iOS 7 market share compared to last statistics published by Apple, when iOS 7 accounted for only 64% in the month of October.
