Google following Facebook’s way has started an election portal for India ahead of 2014 elections. The portal will educate the voters about the information regarding the parties and their electoral candidates.
In the first phase it has released the information about the parties and their candidates for the states of
Google will update the voters about the background of the candidates and will also display election related news collected from its widespread network. Google Election Portal is a similar move as that of Facebook, which recently announced the same plans for the coming elections.
As major part of the voters are youngsters, and majority of them tend to be connected to the net in some or the other way, it is clear that the coming elections will be influenced by the social media.
Most of the candidates aware of this, have already started to go online from twitter to Google Hangouts.
Delhi CM Sheila Dixit, announced that she would communicate with the people through Hangouts. Recently Union Cabinet Minister for telecommunications and IT, Mr. Kapil Sibal joined twitter.
